Sevu Reece recommits to Waikato

Mitre 10 Cup 2018

Waikato Rugby Union is proud to announce the resigning of exciting winger Sevu Reece for the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup.

Reece, 22, was the most in form winger of the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup season topping the try scoring tally with 14 tries from 11 matches. His consistent 2018 form saw him rewarded with a call up to the Crusaders in Super Rugby where he made his debut only two weeks ago with a Man of the Match performance.

Waikato Head Coach Andrew Strawbridge said, “We are pleased to have secured the services of Sevu Reece for the 2019 season. He has worked hard on his game last season and made significant shifts in crucial aspects. His defensive work was impressive and his high ball reception was a particular strength.

Sevu is a very exciting player and he is keen to build on his already significant contributions to Waikato Rugby. He is determined to be a positive influence in our environment and we look forward to watching his continued success at the Crusaders.”

Sevu Reece is Waikato Cap 1158 and will have a chance to add to his 33 Waikato caps and his impressive 139 points for the province.
