
Waikato Rugby is proud to announce the key signing of inform, outside back, Josh Moorby, who has committed to Waikato for the upcoming 2024 Bunnings National Provincial Championship (NPC) season.
Moorby, 26, returns to the region for the first time since leaving in 2019 to pursue more game time. Hailing from Te Awamutu, the Hamilton Boys’ High School product also played premier club rugby for both Te Awamutu Sports and Melville and was selected as a part of the Waikato Under 19’s team that featured in the 2017 Jock Hobbs Memorial National Under 19 tournament.
Since leaving the Province, Moorby, has amassed 37 provincial caps, having played 21 games for Southland, scoring 30 points between 2019 and 2021, before moving north to Northland where he played a further 16 games scoring another 30 points in 2022 and 2023.
He was selected by the Hurricanes for Super Rugby in 2022 and has gone on to play 38 games for the Wellington franchise. Moorby has represented the Maori All Blacks in three appearances to date.
