Waikato Rugby Sevens Men’s and Women’s teams announced for TECT National Sevens

Waikato Rugby Union has announced their Men’s and Women’s sevens teams for this weekend TECT National Sevens at Tauranga Domain (December 14/15).

Both the Men’s and Women’s teams will be full of confidence after finishing top qualifiers at the Northern Regional Seven’s tournament. The Men’s team finished the day undefeated and the Women’s team only dropped one match at that event.

Waikato Men’s will be looking for redemption after being knocked out in the quarter finals at last year’s competition. While the Women’s team will be looking to go one step further after finishing runners up in back to back national tournaments.

The Waikato Men’s team will be co-captained by Jordan Bunce and Liam Coombes-Fabling, the team has been drawn in Pool B and will face South Canterbury (10.45am), Otago (1.05pm) and Tasman (3.55pm) on day one of the tournament.

Chyna Hohepa will captain the Waikato Women’s team and have also been drawn in Pool B and will face Wellington (10.45am), Tasman (1.25pm) and Canterbury (4.35pm) on day one.

The TECT National Seven’s tournament kicks off at 10.05am from Tauranga Domain, Tauranga on Saturday 14 December.
